Elizabeth Willett shared a presentation of her recent trip to South Africa, hosted by People to People, which focused on an exchange of ideas between art educators. She is planning another trip soon, so if you are interested, please feel free to email her directly ehwillett@yahoo.com
To extend what we all saw in the images from Elizabeth's trip, Ronelle Howell, an extraordinary art educator from Slaton ISD and former TAEA Elementary Art Educator of the Year, shared this presentation of an inquiry-based lesson inspired by South Africa. It was part of our presentation at CEDFA in 2009 for the Summit X, held in Austin, TX. Our focus was on Perception and Assessment, thus engaging our students in the first strand of the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Elementary.) If you have any questions or just want to thank her directly, feel free to email her at rhowell@slatonisd.net!
